11th International GSOM Economy & Management Conference 2024 (EMC 2024)
Violetta Homyakova, a Research Assistant at the International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration, participated in the annual «Economy & Management» (EMC) conference with a presentation on the topic «The Role of Digital Transformation of Public Administration in Achieving Sustainable Development of Regions».
Violetta Homyakova spoke within the track «Public Sector Issues II: Smart Sustainable Cities: Challenges and Opportunities». In her presentation, she:
- Considered the region as a socio-ecological-economic system;
- Highlighted 4 key elements supporting sustainable development in the context of digital transformation (digital transformation of public administration, digital infrastructure, digital innovations, investments in digital projects);
- Shared the results of a correlation-regression analysis, according to which 1) the level of digital transformation of regional government bodies positively influences the level of sustainable development; 2) digital transformation of regional government bodies can have the greatest impact on the environmental component of its sustainable development; 3) the hypothesis of a linear relationship between the level of digital transformation of regional government bodies and its level of sustainable development was refuted;
- Presented the results of expert interviews regarding key challenges for implementing the sustainable development agenda in regions and utilizing the potential of digital technologies in public administration to achieve such goals.
The «Economy & Management» (EMC 2024) conference is a significant annual event held at the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg University, which brings together participants from academia, government agencies, and the business community. Conference participants discuss a wide range of current topics related to economics, management, and sustainable development.
The conference includes various tracks, including «Public Sector Issues», where challenges and opportunities related to smart sustainable cities are discussed. This year, the event was held in a hybrid format, allowing both local and international participants to attend. In addition to presenting their research, conference speakers had the opportunity to exchange experiences and establish professional contacts.
