International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration Webinar

The International Laboratory for Digital Transformation in Public Administration held an online seminar on ‘Generative AI in the Academic Environment: a Tool of the Future or a Threat to the Academic Process?’ At the seminar, Research Assistant Yana Rybushkina spoke about artificial intelligence (AI) in the academic environment. 

The seminar discussed the role of generative AI in text creation and its impact on the academic community, looking at the potential and risks of using AI based on current research. Attention was given to the possibilities given by AI usage including idea generation, drafting, editing, and translation. The limitations of the technology were also highlighted, including issues of accuracy, authorship and risks of plagiarism. The peer review process in the era of generative models was particularly emphasised, as well as publishers' policies on AI.
